Digging Day #4

Digging Day #4 was a big day. The crew completed removing most of the dirt and made the walls vertical so that they could begin adding the footer frames. Things are really beginning to take shape.

Digging Day #3

Day #3. What can I say except the hole is getting bigger. Take a look.

The machines are at rest.

One is still sitting on the bottom of the new basement.

Digging Day #2

It's Day #2 and the digging seems to be going very well (or at least the mound of dirt is growing). See if you can see the difference.

The dirt just about blocks the view of the house.

The "scoop" is making easy work of the digging.

Looks like it's getting bigger.

Demolition Day 3

DONE! It's all torn down, sorted into piles and awaiting removal. After the pile of rubble is removed, the excavation work will begin for the new foundation & new basement.

The addition is off the house!

Hey, I can see the neighbor's house from here...

The pile of rubble...

Hello right back at you.

A "HI" view from the second floor.

No work is planned for the weekend, but these pictures show where things stand for now.

Demolition Day 2

As you can see, Day #2 was pretty busy. The old addition has been reduced to just the concrete floor. Here, take a look...

Here's that concrete slab...
Where did it all go? To the construction dumpster of course!

Demolition Day 1

Well, as you can see the demolition work is underway! Most of the roof has been removed and part of the chimney. There's still a lot to do, but the crew will make quick work of it.
Here's a view from the upstairs window.

Prep for Demolition

Welcome Back! We've started the demolition part of the project. However, the first thing we needed to do was block off the walkway between the kitchen and the existing addition. The second, was to get the AC compressor moved so we can stay cool throughout the construction process. Here's some shots to show the progress.

This is where the AC compressor will be moving too.
And here, it's been moved (excellent work, Pete!).
This is the outside of the family room, before....
And here's the door removed....
And it's been re-hung in the walkway between the kitchen and family room. Time to tear down that family room!

The "BEFORE" Picture

Welcome! Here's the "before" picture of the front yard. This was actually taken in 2001, but the house looks essentially the same today. I'll get some back yard shots posted soon so please return often to review our progress.

The Backyard!

Here's a couple of "before" pictures from the backyard. We're planning to remove the existing addition and replace it with a two-story one giving us lots of new space for the family. Be sure to return often to view our progress.
